Apple will start taking iPhone XR pre-orders on Friday, October 19, with shipping and in-store release date will begin on Friday, October 26.
Apple has recently launched three new iPhones — the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR — last month from the Steve Jobs Theater at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.
Both the iPhone XS and XS Max gone on sale on 21st of September while the iPhone XR will be available later this October. Customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone XR on Friday October 16th, with official shipping and release date on October 23, 2018.
The iPhone XR features a 6.1-inch LCD display also known as Liquid Retina Display and will be powered by Apple’s A12 Bionic chip. It will not ship with stainless steel but rather an aluminum body and will be available in multiple color options. Specifically, you can select from six different finishes: black, white, red, yellow, coral, and blue.
Unlike the iPhone XS and Max, the iPhone XR packs with just a single rear-facing camera and the same water and dust resistance as the predecessors. Apple’s new iPhone XR is the “budget” model of the new 2018 lineup.
Late last week, Apple received green lights from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that authorize the tech company to officially sell the iPhone XR in the United States, ahead of pre-orders later this October.
Apple can finally take down the following disclosure from the iPhone XR product page on the company’s website that reads: “iPhone XR has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. iPhone XR is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.”
With a $250 cheaper, the iPhone XR doesn’t have all of the genes of its siblings — iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max. Some of the sacrifices include an LCD rather than the advanced OLED display, an aluminum rather than stainless steel chassis, and a single instead of the dual-lens main shooter. The good thing is that iPhone XR has the same brain as the more expensive iPhone XS and Max, and its claimed battery juice last longer. In addition to that, the iPhone XR features an edge-to-edge notched display, TrueDepth Camera System (Face ID), a glass sandwich, wireless charging support, bokeh-enabled Portrait Mode, and Smart HDR.
