NBA Trade News: Klay Thompson don't want to play with LeBron James in LA Lakers, want to stay in Golden State Warriors

In wake of the NBA trade news, Klay Thompson ended the rumors and saying that he has no interest in joining LeBron James in Los Angeles Lakers. The 28-year-old shooting guard Klay Thompson reiterates that he wants to stay at the Golden State Warriors forever.

Recently, Klay Thompson has been associated with the NBA trade rumors. Thompson reportedly will be signing with the Los Angeles Lakers next offseason to team up with LeBron James.

Klay Thompson’s contract with the Golden State Warriors is about to expire next offseason and he will become unrestricted free agent. By that time, Thompson will be available for the super maximum extension contract.

Despite the Lakers have apparently been courting Thompson and bring him to the Los Angeles to play alongside James. However, Thompson insisted that he’s very happy where he is having back-to-back NBA championship titles.

“I’ve said it many times before: I would like to be a Warrior for life,” Thompson said in an interview with the Bay Area News Group. “Contract negotiations are way down the line,” said Thompson.

“But I think we all have the same interest. I would love to be here for the rest of my career,” he added.

Hall of Famer Paul Pierce has explained why Thompson should strongly take into consideration going to the Lakers should they come calling. “He definitely should be their top target, he’s the perfect compliment to LeBron, Pierce said on ESPN’s The Jump.

“It’s more of a realistic chance that they can get two of them. … They can get Kawhi and Klay but Klay fits with LeBron more so than anybody.”

“There’s going to be a time whee Klay says ‘I have enough championships, it’s my time to get the money and if I get the money and be in L.A. [Lakers] … I already have three of four championships at the time and be maxed out…’ I don’t think he will get maxed out in Golden State,” Pierce further explained.

The Los Angeles Lakers landed the three-time NBA champion, 14-time All-Star LeBron James during the free agency period. Now, the storied franchise is already planning to acquire star players for next year to compliment James inside the court with Thompson and Kawhi Leonard allegedly in the mix.

However, ESPN insider Ramona Shelburne said she thought Thompson was the Lakers’ bigger priority. “In terms of who they target next year, it’s whoever wants to come,” Shelburne said on ESPNLA Mornings.

Shelburne said that she think that it would be Kawhi because he’s a great player and has the skillset. “But I think they like Klay (Thompson).”

It should be worth noted that the report about Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson in joining the Los Angeles Lakers is based on NBA trade rumors and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
