The Nokia 8 and the Sirocco edition are the next smartphones to receive the Android 9.0 Pie OS software update. According to HMD Global Oy’s update schedule, both handsets were supposed to get the software upgrade some time in November 2018 but that didn’t materializes. Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global posted on Twitter to detail the rationale for the rollout delay.
According to his Twitter post, the team are working on the Android 9 Pie software update for the Nokia 8, but a few unresolved matters have stopped them from rolling it out. Sarvikas stesses out that their team need an extra time to resolve the issues and finish it up.
The update should arrive on the Nokia 8 smartphone in the first couple of week this December. There is no further details regarding the Nokia 8 Sirocco edition but the Android 9 Pie software update for it should arrive shortly after that of the regular model.

Google’s Android 9.0 Pie mobile operating system should bring new features including the new navigation, a redesigned recent apps menu, adaptive battery, adaptive brightness, and Digital Wellbeing app to the Nokia 8 and Sirocco edition.
The Nokia 8 was first unveiled in September 2017 and it shipped with pre-installed Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The smartphone got updated to Android 8.1 Oreo and is now in line to receive an Android Pie which will be its second major mobile OS upgrade.
