The Shenzhen-headquartered Chinese smartphone manufacturer has yet to officially confirm the launch date of the OnePlus 6T, but there is no questions that its announcement event is approaching. An invitation that is seemingly for the OnePlus 6T launch event in India has just surfaced over the worldwide web and it in line to a special launch even on October 17.
This new leak corroborates with an earlier leaked screenshot emerged a few weeks ago that also has an October 17 date. This one appears to validate that scheduled launch even though OnePlus is yet to confirm the date themselves.
Just like the earlier leak about the OnePlus 6T release date, the invite also include the “Unlock The Speed” phrase. The description is suggested to pertain to the new in-display fingerprint scanner. The OnePlus 6T is reported to permanently ditch old fashion rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.
For starters, Vivo is the first smartphone manufacturer to introduce and commercialize the in- or under-display fingerprint sensor into the market. Vivo and OnePlus — not to mention Oppo — are sister companies under the BBK Electronics Corporation, their parent company. So there’s no surprise that the biometric technology (and upcoming technologies) will also be coming to OnePlus devices.
The OnePlus 6T launch in India may not be the main to hold the event, as it will expectedly take place simultaneously with a other locations including United States.
The OnePlus 6T is expected ship the same Snapdragon 845 SoC from Qualcomm as the predecessor and customers will have the option of either 6GB or 8GB of RAM configuration. The 8GB variant will allegedly be available in two storage configurations 128GB or 256GB. And the 6GB RAM model will be available in 64GB of on-board memory. Unfortunately, the 6GB of RAM variant will only be available with 64GB of storage.
The handset is expected to ship with Google’s latest software OS, Android Pie 9.0, preinstalled topped the Oxygen OS 9.0 custom ROM skin.
