The 2018 NFL regular season opener gets underway featuring the defending Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Atlanta Falcons (live stream online for free below). It’s an interesting Week 1 contest between the reigning champs and the runner-up from the 2016 NFL campaign, as well as a rematch of NFC Divisional Round playoff game in January 2018. These professional American football organization have quite a little of history against each other and it should make for an entertaining clash to open up the all-new 20181- NFL season.

Before the Eagles and Falcons game kicks off the 2018 NFL season opening game at the Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia will hold a special pre-game ceremony to present its Super Bowl LII championship banner. It symbolizes the first ever championship title in the franchise history. After that, the Eagles should start the exhausting matchup of defending their Super Bowl title. No organization has repeated as back-to-back champions since the New England Patriots won the Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX dating back in 2003 and 2004, respectively.

Vegas are slightly favoring the Eagles in this contest, with the spread on the game is PHI -2. That line has been slash in half from the opening number, as the Eagles swiftly fell from four-point after it turned clear that the team star quarterback Carson Wentz would not be prepared for the start of the 2018 NFL regular season.

Fortunately, the Eagles have a quite skillful backup in Nick Foles, the signal-caller that started for the team’s first Super Bowl-winning roster, but struggled in his most recent game against the Falcons. Atlanta should not take this one as an easy road game, as they weren’t able to get much going at the Lincoln Financial Field during their 15-10 defeat in January 2018. The oddsmakers are still expecting far more points to be scored than there were in that game. The over/under also fell based on the Eagles announcement, news that head coach Doug Pederson officially verified on Monday.

Foles will fill the shoes of Wentz to start for the Eagles in 2018 NFL regular-season opener. Wentz suffered from tore ACL back in December 2017. Foles, a six-year veteran quarterback, started the final three contests of the regular season in last year and then led Philadelphia to the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory in team’s history over the Pats 41–33 in February.

In their regular season game against the Cleveland Browns, Foles threw a couple of interceptions and was sacked three times. He didn’t play in the team’s final preseason matchup against the New York Jets.

Will the Eagles find a technique to come through with Foles once again, or will the Falcons manage to produce more offensive play than they delivered against the Philly.
