The Sunday’s game itself should be a high-scoring and close matchup between the New England and the Philadelphia.
The Patriots are looking to secure for their back-to-back Super Bowl championship title, their third in four seasons and sixth in franchise history. Should head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady emerge successful, the Patriots will tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most victories in NFL history.
The Philadelphia, on the other side of the field, do not have the same kind of historic success. The Eagles are making their third Super Bowl appearance in the organization’s history, and the team are looking for their first title. The Eagles dropped a 27-10 decision to the Raiders dating way back in 1981 with Super Bowl XV, and the former also lost to the Patriots back in 2005 with the Super Bowl XXXIX by a 24-21 score deficit.
The Eagles have not won any Super Bowl trophy since way back in 1960, when quarterback Norm Van Brocklin led the Eagles to a 17-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers, and that contest was momentous because it was the only postseason lost against a Vince Lombardi-coached club.
The Eagles will give the Philadelphia quite a little bit to celebrate should they can emerge with the victory. The Patriots are 4.5-point favorites in the Super Bowl LII (52), per OddsShark sportsbook, and the total is 48 points.
The 40-year-old veteran quarterback Tom Brady, who was named the NFL’s 2018 Most Valuable Player honors on Saturday night, threw 32 touchdown passes and eight interceptions during the 2017-18 NFL regular season. The four-time Super Bowl champion Brady has also thrown a total of five scoring passes and has not thrown an interception in the playoffs.
The Eagles had the fourth-ranked defense team during the regular season, and the team have showcased the ability to set the heat on opposing quarterbacks with consistency.
However, Tom Brady has witnessed every kind of defense that is employed in the league, and the superstar quarterback excels at deciphering the structure and coming up with an different solution. Brady also has a number of skillful players in running back Dion Lewis, tight end Rob Gronkowski, wide receivers Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan and Brandin Cooks.
The options available to the Brady should allow the team to score four or five touchdowns in this matchup.
As for offensive side, the Eagles offense also looks to be in first-class shape, as the team are coming off a 38-7 victory over the Vikings in the NFC championship game.
Confidence played a major part for the Eagles, as the Vikings had the top defense in the NFL during the recently concluded regular season, while the Pats ranked 29th in yardage allowed.
However, it’s quite hard to imagine the Philly earning the best of Brady once the matchup reaches the fourth quarter. Tom led the New England to a great comeback win in Super Bowl LI (51) over the Atlanta Falcons.
The Patriots win the contest with a touchdown in the late, and their 37-30 win will make them tie the Steelers for having the most Super Bowl trophies in NFL history.
