Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: launch, preorder and release dates, prices, availability, specs, features, leaks, rumors and more. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is highly anticipated to be officially launched sometime in October 2018. The Chinese manufacturer is keeping the majority of information regarding the next-generation flagship smartphone secret, so the general public doesn’t exactly have an idea what it will offer. However, we have a a handful of thoughts on what the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 should possess to win the consumers’ hard-earned dollars and outsell not only its predecessor but also the other recently released and forthcoming flagship Android smartphone.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 predecessor, the Mi Mix 2S that was launched in April 2018 (just earlier this year), features a super-slim bezel on the topmost area of the front panel. Additionally, the 2S doesn’t equip a notch which simply looks great but its super thin top bezel can’t handle accommodating some key components including front-facing camera. Xiaomi’s answer was to put the selfie shooter in the bottom bezel, which is quite awkward most especially when capturing selfies and making video calls.
We are hoping, so does the company, this will change in the Mi Mix 3. We are pretty sure that Xiaomi is also in pain on how to address that dilemma as the company is also listening to the customers feedback.
For the past weeks, Xiaomi co-founder and president Lin Bin has been teasing us by showing off photos of the forthcoming Mi Mix 3 bit by bit. While, the company’s director of product management Donovan Sung has teased fans that the Mi Mix 3 will be among the first smartphones to support 5G, a fifth generation of cellular mobile communications.
Looking at the picture of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 posted on social media by the none other than the company’s president, and an alleged video of the handset shared by smartphone tipster Ben Geskin from Weibo, the leaks confirmed the front appearance of the phone. The leaks suggests that the Mi Mix 3 will ship with a sliding mechanism that unveils the front-facing camera. The selfie snapper will be revealed when the rear of the phone is slid upwards.
That said, the mechanism is done manually and not powered by a motor (just like the one Oppo Find X). It doesn’t appear very futuristic, but the good thing is that you won’t have to fret about the motorized camera breaking.
If you’re residing in the key western countries but want to buy the Mi Mix 3 when it launched, sorry but might not get it because Xiaomi products aren’t available in many parts of the world. You can get the Mi Mix 3 in China, India and in a few other Asian markets.
As for the Mi Mix 3 availability, Xiaomi haven’t confirmed when the handset will go on sale. According to the reports, the release date of the Xioami Mi Mix 3 will take place sometime in October 2018.
The Mi Mix 3 is expected to feature Snapdragon 845 SoC, a dual-lens AI rear-facing camera, Qi wireless charging support and a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ 18:9 display. Xiaomi will release two versions of Mi Mix 3 — standard and ceramic models with 6GB or 8GB of RAM as well as 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of storage options. The Mi Mix 3 starts at 3399 Yuan (US$496/£383) and 4399 Yuan ($642/£496) for the 64GB/6GB RAM standard and ceramic models, respectively.
