Xiaomi diversified its Mi 8 series with the Mi 8 Lite (Mi 8 Youth) and Mi 8 Pro earlier this month. While the latter was already available in a number of emerging markets under the model name Mi 8 Explorer, the other one has finally become visible at the Mi Store online and is now on sale.
Xiaomi is offering the Mi 8 Lite in three RAM and ROM configurations – 4/64GB, 6/64GB, and 6/128GB options. As for the retail pricing, the prices are respectively CNY1,399/$205/€175; CNY1,699/$250/€215; and CNY1,999/$290/€250.
The Mi 8 Lite, marketed as Mi 8 Youth in Chinese market, ships with a 6.26-inch Full HD+ display at 1080 x 2220 resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC processor and with Adreno 512 GPU. As for camera department horizontally-aligned dual-lens — a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor and f/1.9 + 5MP — camera system on the back. On the front end, it has a 24MP selfie shooter with Sony IMX576 sensor. The Mi 8 Lite comes with a 3,350 mAh battery capacity with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support. It ships with an Android 8.1 Oreo OS topped with custom MIUI skin
Xiaomi’s lower mid-range smartphone is available in three colorways – Midnight Black, Aurora Blue, and Sunset Gold. The cheapest model with 4GB Ram and 64GB on-board storage only is available only in Black color.
The Xiaomi Mi online store is only one of the shopping destinations where the Mi 8 Lite can be grabbed. Apart from the first-party store, you can also purchase it at Chinese e-retailers JD.com, Suning as well as in other e-commerce and physical stores.
