Xiaomi teases Mi Mix 3 5G model, Ready for primetime in early 2019

Xiaomi launched the Mi Mix 3 on October 25th and officially releases earlier this month. It is the first smartphone to come up with a magnetic slider mechanism with a nearly 100% screen-to-body display ratio.

During the launch late last month, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has confirmed that it will be selling a 5G version of the Mi Mix 3 in early next year. With the launch of the 5G variant of Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 approaching, the information about the smartphone is now emerging over the worldwide web.

In the latest development regarding the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, the company’s president Lin Bin published a photo on Weibo that teases the impending 5G model of the smartphone. Looking the image, you can clearly see the Android Pie and a 5G signal icons, suggesting that the Mi Mix 3 is connected on a 5G network.

The image suggests that the development of Mi Mix 3 5G variant has wrapped up and is currently in the experimental phase. There’s a huge possibility that we could see the Mi Mix 3 5G model launching at the Consumers Electronics Show 2 in Las Vegas or in Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress in 2019.

Apart from Xiaomi, other mobile phone makers are working on a smartphone with 5G connectivity including Samsung, OnePlus and Huawei. OnePlus has also claimed that it will be among the first OEMs in mobile industry to release a 5G smartphone in first half of 2019.

The 5G model of the Mi Mix 3 is anticipated to have the same specs sheet as the original one. The device features a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. It will also be powered by Snapdragon 845 octa-core SoC paired with 10GB of RAM and up to 256GB of on-board storage.

As for the camera department, the Mi Mix 3 sports with a dual-lens rear-facing camera — a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 and 12MP Samsung S5k3M3+ sensor with f/2.4. On the front side too there’s a dual-lens selfie snapper — a 24MP Sony IMX576 primary sensor paired with a 2MP for depth field.

The Mi Mix 3 is running on Google’s latest Android 9 Pie mobile OS topped with MIUI 10 custom skin and Xiao AI voice assistant. The Mi Mix 3 packs with a 3,200mAh capacity battery, a Quick Charge 4+ support and 10W wireless charging.
